What is equilibrium
Equilibrium is the point where the rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the backwards reaction.
This is true when the concentration of reactants and products remains constant, and it occurs in a closed environment.
Explain the harbour process
Nitrogen is taken out of the air through fractional distillation and hydrogen is created from steam and methane. These are combined in a closed environment at 450°C and 350 atmospheres, with the help of the catalyst iron, to form ammonia.
Contact process
S+O2==> SO2
2SO2+O2==>2SO3
SO3+H2SO4==>H2S2O7+heat
H2S2O7+H2O==>2H2SO4
