Chemistry Definitions Flashcards
To understand and know the definitions in CAPE Chemistry (5 cards)
State the definition of the ‘Le Chatelier’s Principle’
Le Chatelier’s principle states that if a dynamic equilibrium is disturbed by changing the conditions, the position of equilibrium shifts to counteract the change to reestablish an equilibrium.
State Hess’s Law
Hess’s Law states that the total enthalpy change during the complete course of a chemical reaction is independent of the route taken.
Dynamic Equilibrium
A system is in dynamic equilibrium when the rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the backward reaction in a reversible reaction.
State Avogadro’s Law
Avogadro’s Law states that equal volumes of ideal gases at the same temperature and pressure contain the same number of particles
