Q

.What problems does the massive population of China cause and gender balance cause?

A

The massive over population increases the amount homeless there are as there are not many jobs on offer due to everyone needing and wanting one. In urban areas there is extreme over population as that is where all of the jobs are on offer. As there is a huge gender imbalance, many boys die alone. The reason for the gender imbalance is that they think that boys are more well suited to do jobs and help their parents in their old age. Many people do not follow the one-child policy as in poorer parts of China, they need more children to help out with the work and labour on the farms and fields.

Q

What is the one-child policy and what has it done?

A

The one-child policy was set in place when the Chinese government found out that they are extremely over populated and need to make a change. Before the one-child policy came into play, the Chinese thought that because of all the new jobs, they had to increase the work force and this resulted in lots of Chinese families sometimes having up to 5 to 6 children. If women do become pregnant when they already have one child and do not abort it, they will receive criticism and will get fined but if you only had one child and only one, the parents would receive benefits, a certificate and a place in many schools. If the one-child policy never came into play when it did, the 1.3 billionth child would have been born around 4 to 5 years ago, and imagine what the population would be like today if it never came into play.
