Q

What are the steps of Effective Clinical Decision Making (Just think of a the steps to an Eval)

A

Involves interrelated steps
Leads to the planning of effective treatments
Examination of patient
Evaluation of the data & problem identification
diagnose determination
Prognosis generation & POC (plan of care)

Q

Model of Disablement helps to asses?

A

Suggests a framework for structuring the effects of disease

Helps to answer “what shall I assess”

Q

Handicap for ICIDH vs Nagi Disability

A

Social disadvantage resulting from an impairment or functional limitation
Nagi offers
functional limitation as restrictions in performance, physical action, activity, or task
Disability as an inability to engage in specific societal roles

Q

what are the 4 essential elements to a goal

A
  1. Individual - who is performing the action
  2. Behvaior/ Activity- What is the specific activity that the pt. will perform. Will the pt. play tennis, golf, box, run around naked doing round house kicks with chuck Norris. ALWAYS include the improvement the pt. made for example did he increase his ROM or MMT.
  3. Condition- Where and when will the pt. perform the task.
  4. Time- Long Term greater than 3 weeks. Short term less than 3 weeks.

Q

Difference between goals and outcomes

Q

3 steps to the intervention

A

3 components
1. Coordination, communication, documentation (always document what you are going to do and coordinate and communicate with other PT’s
2. Patient/client-related instruction- Make sure the pt. knows what to do even if they are Spanish and just say “yes” to everything they probably don’t understand avoid the lawsuit get a translator.
3. Procedural intervention- Here’s the actual intervention part.
Therapeutic exercises
Schema : FITT, Posture/activity- technique – required elements

Q
Patient Participation in Planning
Free choice-
MC choice
Confirmed choice
Forced Choice
No Choice '
(Explain Each)
A

1.5 pg. 15- All this box is saying is ask the patient what they want out of therapy and what is most important to them keep the pt. involved.
1.6 - box 1.6 Free choice- open ended question
MC= Give Pt. a few options to choose from for treatment
Confimed Choice- Therpaist ask questions makes a “suggestion” then lets pt. choose
Forced Choice- The therapist asks a question and Pt. can agree or disagree with what has been picked
NO choice- The PT just does what he or she wants and doesn’t involve the patient what so ever.

Q

Evidence-Based Practice What is the Scientific Approach to the finding a good article (5 steps)

A

Step 1 identify clinical problem formulate an answerable ?
Step 2 collect evidence from systematic lit review (level 1-5 Table 1.1 p 18, CAT)
Step 3 critically analyses
Step 4 integrate clinician’s expertise, patient characteristics and analysis
Step 5 evaluate the process (problem oriented medical record, SOAP)

17
Q

2 cognitive processing styles

A

Receptive data gathering/systematic processing style

Perceptive data gathering/perceptive & intuitive

18
Q

Mind Mapping a tool for __________?

A

enhancing decision making

19
Q

3 ways to do evaluation processes

A
  1. Hypothesis-Oriented Algorithm for Clinicians (HOAC) provided clinicians and students with a framework for science-based clinical practice and focused on the remediation of functional deficits and how changes in impairments related to these deficits.
  2. Nagi Model of Disablement - Pathology- Impairment- FL - Disability
