Q

what is the brain doing

A
  • reality is individual and collective “storying”
  • brain is always trying to simplify info and make sense of nonsensical world
  • it is impacted by how our senses work together; thus memories get stored and learning occurs
  • occurs senses provide more info than our brains can handle (simple ways like selective attention to more severe ways of trauma flooding)
  • too much info leave gaps for brain to manage, so it fills in gaps by matching to what is already known
  • our brains only process fractions of what is in front of us
