Acedia
A less common synonym for sloth, one of seven capital sins
Divination
Sin against the virtue of religion in which one attempts to tell of future events by means of occult forces- Satan, demons, spirits, astrology, etc.
Incredulity
The willful resfusal to assent to revealed truth or even the neglect of this truth
Religion
A set of beliefs and practices followed by those committed to the service and worship of God
Simony
The buying or selling of spiritual things, which have God alone as their owner and master
Superstition
Sin against the virtue of religion involving the attribution of a kind of magical power to certain practices or objects, like charms or omens
Blasphemy
Speech, thought, or action involving contempt for God or the Church, or persons or things dedicated to God
Oath
Invocation of God’s name to bear witness to the truth
Perjury
Giving ones word under oath falsely, or making a promise under oath without intending to keep it
Reverence
Deep respect felt or shown towards a person on account of his or her position or relationship
Vow
A deliberate and free promise made to God concerning a possible and better good which must be fulfilled by reason of the virtue of religion
Leisure
Time to cultivate one’s familial, cultural, social, and religious life

Resurrection

Reason for the Theological Virtures (3x)
~ God gives us virtues to help us live out the 1st Commandment to love Him and put Him foremost in our lives
~ Christians receive these in Baptism
~ “THEOlogical” because they come from God, and practice of these leads us to God
Faith
Personal adherence to the whole Truth of God
Sins against Faith (3x):
~ Receiving “communion” at non-Catholic Christians services and/or REPLACING Mass with a non-Catholic Christian service
~ Voluntary doubt (subbornly resfusing to belief or adhere to Truth) (you have doubts, but don’t correct them)
~ Incredulity

- Apostasy (Switching faith)
- Schism (Great division in Christians)
Hope
Desire for and expection of God’s eternal life and the graces needed to gain it
Sins against Hope:
~ Despair (I’m done with this!) (Not depression!! Depression leads to despair which leads to suicide)
~ Presumption
Charity (Love)
Willing the good of another; loving God above all else of His own sake, and neighbor as self
