A

Suppresses appetite. CNS stimulant to promote weight loss in obesity. Works in small and large intestine where inhibits absorption of caloric intake. Contra- cardo disease, hypertension, hyperthyroid, glaucoma. AE-may rise BP, palpitations, dysrhythmias.

Stimulate serotonin receptors in brain. Contra- vasoconstriction so cardio disease, hypertension, cerebral, glaucoma, and heart disease. AE- vasoconstriction effects.

Resp depression syndrome analeptics

A

Treat neonatal and postop resp depression. Stimulating CNS control resp. Indications- newborns caffeine is associated with less tachycardia, CNS stim, and feeding intolerance. Contra-peptic ulcer and cardio conditions. AE- stimulate Vagal, vasomoter, and resp centers as well as increasing blood flow to muscles.
