-New Zealand government pledged to provide 90% of the funds needed to repair Christchurch’s infrastructure
this will result in economic boom
-red cross and St Johns ambulance services assisted injured

- rescue- rescuing those trapped and injured and moving others to safety
- recovery-days/weeks after, search for people who had been killed. water/power restored/provided, portable toilets distributed
- rehabilitation-long term, buildings strengthened, some businesses relocated, services restored

spearhead reconstruction of christchurch costing $13 billion. split into zones
red zone=worst affected residential areas, government buy off 5000 worst affected insured properties, homes won’t be repaired
green zone=10,000 homes are likely to be rebuilt
