A

god created the earth and heavens
god formed man from the soil of the ground and breathed into his nostrils and he became alive
god planted the garden of eden with a tree of knowledge of good and evil in it
god put man in the garden to tend it and told him not to eat the fruit on the tree
god made animals that the man named but they weren’t suitable for man’s helper
god put man to sleep and took a rib and created a woman from it and they were naked and not ashamed
a serpent tempted the woman to eat the forbidden fruit which she tempted the man to eat too
the man and woman realised they were naked and felt ashamed and covered up
god saw this and knew they’d disobeyed him and eaten the forbidden fruit
man and woman were thrown out the garden of eden and given punishments

25
what is day age theory
each day is not a literal 24h period but rather an age eg 1000 years
26
explain 2 beliefs christians might learn from the creation accounts in genesis
one belief is that on day 1 god created the heavens and the earth. a christian teaching to support this is that "in the beginning god created heavens and the earth". this means that god is omnipotent to create all this. another belief is that god was very impressed on day 6. a christian teaching to support this is "it was very good". this means that god thought this creation was better than all he had done before.
27
incarnation
a latin term that literally means the act of being made flesh. jesus was 100% human and 100% divine
28
john 1:24
the word became flesh and made his dwelling amongst us
29
explain 2 christian beliefs about the incarnation
one belief is that jesus is fully divine. a christian teaching to support this "jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases". this shows that jesus is divine because he has the ability to heal people for example when he helped a blind man have sight. another belief is that jesus was fully human. a christian teaching to support this is "he was hungry". this shows that jesus us human because humans naturally get hungry
30
luke 23:54
father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing jesus is telling the father to forgive the romans for killing the incarnation as they don't know that's what they're doing.
31
outline 3 events leading up to the death of jesus
a first event is the last supper a second event is the betrayal and arrest a third event is the trial
32
last supper
jesus' last supper before his death. he prophesied that one of his disciples would betray him
33
betrayal and arrest
one of the disciples arrived with the chief priests to arrest jesus. the disciples wanted to fight but jesus didn't let them
34
the trial
jesus was tried by the sanhedrin and found guilty of blasphemy for claiming to be the christ, the son of god. he was trialed by the roman governer who offered to release jesus or barrabas. the crowd chose barrabas and jesus was condemned to death by crucuifixion
35
the crucifixion
jesus was crucified on a friday (good friday) and a robber was crucified on either side of jesus. jesus was mocked by the bystanders. jesus forgeve his killers and died with the words "father, into your hands i commit my spirit"
36
the ressurection
joseph of arimathea got permission to bury jesus' body in his tomb. on sunday morning (easter) jesus' woman followers came to annoint the body but found the tomb empty. they told the disciples who confirmed it. jesus then appeared to 2 disciples at a village near jerusalem called emmanus.

51
atonement
the restoring of humanity's broken relationship with god through jesus' death
52

death as sacrifice (roman catholics)
christ offered himself as a loving sacrifice that atones for human sin. only jesus could make the scarifice because he is the only human without sin
54
moral example (liberals)
by acting as a moral example to humanity jesus inspires humans to follow his good example
55
jesus had to die
roman catholic because he is the only human who is without sin evangelicals think he did have to die as a punishment instead of us being punished without jesus dying we would not be able to reach eternal life jesus dying enabled him to ressurect which shows that he is the incarnation of god
56
jesus did not have to die
liberals think that jesus was a moral example but that does not mean he has to die he shouldn't have to be responsible for our sins, we should have found our own way to salvation if he had lived longer he could have set more of an example and presuaded others he was god jesus could have helped people, done miracles to show he was god rather than dying surely god could just forgive us if he is omnibenevolent.
