3. Meek
4. Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness
5. Merciful
6. Clean of Heart
7. Peacemakers

What does “Blessed” mean?
A profound, indescribable happiness/joy. Ai says this: “Being blessed can also refer to a state of inner happiness that is not dependent on external circumstances, but rather a source of joy from within. “
What is Jesus claiming when He uses the word “Blessed” talking about the 8 Beatitudes? “Blessed are those who. . .”
These are the things that will provide you with Joy indescribably. If He’s really God, yay! How much more than right can He be! If you listen to His Beatitudes, you be Joyful, and that makes things really so much easier, because otherwise I don’t know what really gives me Joy. And each Beatitude also comes with another great thing! So yay!
In the Sermon on the Mount, what does Jesus say about Murder? (know just 1 of these topics 1/9)
- Simply hating someone is just as bad as murder itself
- Jesus emphasizes what’s in a person’s heart over their actions
In the Sermon on the Mount, what does Jesus say about Adultery? (know just 1 of these topics 2/9)
- Simply lusting after someone is just as bad as adultery itself
- Jesus emphasizes what’s in a person’s heart over their actions
In the Sermon on the Mount, what does Jesus say about Divorce? (know just 1 of these topics 3/9)
1. It is morally wrong to divorce your wife/husband except for s* immorality. Otherwise, you’re making them a victim of adultery.
2. if you marry that divorced person, you also commit adultery.
(This one’s really hard to take. Cause i don’t really understand why either. But, God would never command anything bad, I understand. Since I know that, either I’m understanding it wrong [which is why it’s important to research the context], or either it’s right and true but i just don’t like it)
In the Sermon on the Mount, what does Jesus say about Revenge? (know just 1 of these topics 4/9)
Rather than an “eye for an eye”, “if anyone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other cheek also”. Don’t seek revenge, rather take it plainly and don’t resist it. I believe Jesus is talking about personal issue’s here, not war. Anyways, when you don’t choose to fight back, you refuse a system the other person delved into. By not being like them, you rebuke them. The more resistance you put up, most of the time, problems get bigger. However, if you take it and refuse to resist, no matter how tempting it might be, you kill such an issue right then and there. So you win :D
In the Sermon on the Mount, what does Jesus say about Giving to the Poor? (know just 1 of these topics 5/9)
1. Don’t give away just to show off how good of a person you are (cough cough many billionaires I think cough)
2. Give away in secret. Don’t go out of your way to share it with anybody that you gave away.
(Stop tipping peoples, it’s just so you can show off how good a person you are. It’s showy. Most people tip more than they actually donate to charities. Same with hospitality, alot of peopel spend so much to show hospitality, and that’s great and all, but they are jsut tryign to show off how good a person they are. And so they spend more showign hospitality rather than actually donatign to charity where no one will know you donated. [i’m guilty of both btw :D])
In the Sermon on the Mount, what does Jesus say about Prayer? (know just 1 of these topics 6/9)
1. Don’t pray to show off how wonderful of a faithful person you are
2. Pray in secret
“The secret of praying is praying in secret” - Leonard Ravenhill
In the Sermon on the Mount, what does Jesus say about Worry? (know just 1 of these topics 7/9)
1. Don’t worry because worrying does nothing
2. If God provides for all the animals and plants, wouldn’t He provide much more for you, His prized possession?
3. Seek the Kingdom of heaven, and everything that you need will be provided to you. So do not worry, just seek God and Jesus’ promises, if you do that, everything you need will be provided for. Really weird, but if He really is God, how much more than right can He be? And would you not want it to be true? It makes things soooo much easier!!! No more need to worry cause I know for certainty, all my needs will be provided for! So long as I keep doing His will and following God. (which sadly means i do have to study hard still :( but that’s alright). But i don’t need to worry about my future or anything
In the Sermon on the Mount, what does Jesus say about Judging Others? (know just 1 of these topics 8/9)
1. Don’t judge others without judging yourself first with the same standard
2. God will Judge you the same way you judged your fellow, so be very very careful when you do choose to judge
The bible says it’s like double-bladed sword. Like that guy from star wars who has his lightsabers coming out at the top and bottom of the thingy. In real life, double-bladed swords are terrible, cause at the same time you attack someone else with it, you have to dodge the other side of it. So be very very careful, cause just as much as you use your judgment on someone else, you use it on yourself too.
What is the Parable Jesus gives at the end of the Sermon on the Mount?
A Parable of a wise and foolish man. The wise man builds his house on a rock, and the foolish man builds his house on sand. And then a storm comes and destroys the foolish mans house because it had a week foundation
What is the meaning of the story of the Wise Man and the Foolish Man at the end of the Sermon on the Mount?
If you build your life (your house) on a weak foundation – your own opinion, your own ways, etc. your life will collapse at the first sign of trouble. But if you build your life based on the words of Jesus and the Bible, then you are able to face any problem. If Jesus is really God, how much more than right can He be? Reeeeaaallllllylylylylylylyyyyyyyyyy, it’s such a great thing I would want to be true cause it makes things so so so much easier - and the most wonderful thing is that it is!!! why don’t people take what He says seriously :( even when they do believe He is who He says He is :( I’m ranting but it’s sad :((((((((((((
Why does Nicodemus come at night to see Jesus?
He comes at night because he is well-respected in the community and he is embarrassed to be seen with Jesus, talking with him, etc. So he comes at night so no one will see him.
Why does Jesus tell the story of Moses and the bronze snake?
Moses makes a bronze snake and puts it on a pole so that anyone who is bitten by a serpent just has to look at the bronze snake and he will be healed. Jesus makes the comparison that he too will soon be lifted up on a pole (cross) and anyone who believes in him and looks to him will be saved from the sting of sin.
What does Jesus mean when he says, “You must be BORN AGAIN” to Nicodemus?
It means that Nicodemus needs to change his religion. The way he was going was all wrong and he has to “start over” so to speak, by following Jesus and giving up his old ways / religion.
What is the main lesson that we learn from the conversation between Nicodemus and Jesus?
Jesus is saying that just being a “good person” does not get you into heaven. He is saying not all religions are right and there is really only one true religion – following him. God will only accept people that follow Jesus.
How are the woman at the well and Nicodemus completely different? (3 ways)
a) Nicodemus is wealthy, popular, a highly respected man in the community, etc. The woman is NONE of these things.
b) Nicodemus tries to keep it a secret that he is meeting with Jesus. The woman tells the whole town that she met him.
c) Nicodemus believes he is so good, he’s going to heaven for sure. The woman believes she is so bad, there is no way she will ever get to heaven.
- Jesus talks about “Living Water” – what does he mean by that?
Just like water satisfies thirst, refreshes, cleans and rejuvenates, when someone believes in Jesus, their soul is satisfied, they are made new, cleaned from sin.
What does the woman ask Jesus?
Which “religion” is the right one?
What is Jesus’s answer to the Woman at the Well’s Question?
Jesus answers that anyone who follows Him (Jesus) and worships the one, true God in their heart is following the right religion.
What are the 7 “I AM” statements Jesus says? (7 statements)
- I AM the Bread of Life
- I AM the Light of the World
- I AM the True Gate
- I AM the Good Shepard
- I AM the Resurrection and the Life
- I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life
- I AM the True Vine
When Jesus says, “I AM” what is he really saying?
He is saying that He is God. He was the God that spoke to Moses all those years ago.
Where is the first time we read the words “I AM”?
The first time God says, “I AM” is when Moses asks Him, who are you? Or what God are you
