Q

Explain two contrasting ways in which Christians fulfil their ‘mission’ in the world (4)

A

One way Christians fulfil their missions in the world is by an evangelistic course such as the Alpha course. This is a series of talks and discussions on the Christian faith. It is described as ‘an opportunity to explore the meaning of life’. It is also optional to go and they offer courses for prisoners and relationship programs over 100 countries. For example the Salvation Army to help provide for the homeless by running hostels and providing food and support.
Another way is personal witness, many do good, follow teachings in order to influence others to look at them and think they are a good role model and they may follow what they do. They indirectly preach Christianity by their actions rather than preaching outload. This is for people who are not as keen on speaking outload, thus they follow teachings and be a good Christian in home people watch them and be influenced by them.

Q

Explain two ways in which mission (evangelism/Church growth) is important to Christians today? (5)

A

One way in which mission is important to Christians today is because many Christians believe it is their duty to spread the message of God as Jesus commanded. Jesus told them to ‘go therefore and make disciples for all nations/obey everything I commanded you’. Thus Christians believe it is their duty to preach Christianity. This is important because it influences others to turn to Christianity and grows the religion.
Another reason it is important is because Christians believe it will save their souls. As sharing the message of God will save their souls from eternal damnations. (Jesus can give eternal life).
