What does omniscient mean?
All knowing
What does omnibenevelont mean?
All loving / good
What does transcendent mean?
Beyond our universe (timeless).
God is totally different to the universe, existing before it and so separate from it
What does immanent mean?
God is the creator of the universe and is involved in it
God acts in its history
What do fundamentalists believe?
They believe the bible is the direct word of God.
Everything is true
Direct route into knowing gods mind
What do conservatives believe?
They believe writers of the bible were inspired by God but the bible isn’t word for word
the bible is an interpretation of gods message
What do liberals believe?
The bible was written by people who thought they have a special understanding of gods message
Influenced by their culture and time
Some teachings of bible are not relevant to us today (homosexuals)
We are called to interpret the bible in the light of the modern understanding of science
Who is a liberal Christian?
Someone who believes in science but believes there is a possibility of God
Aka God created Big Bang theory
Who are conservative Christians?
Believe stories of bible are true but God didn’t create the world in 6 days
Rather each day represents a very long period of time (an aeon)
Who is a fundamentalist Christian?
The bible is the word of God so everything is true
Evolution is wrong and God created the world in 6 days
What does omnipotent mean?
All powerful
