A
  • Some Christians believe Jesus was telling them not to mix politics with religion, but to keep them separate.
  • Some Christians believe that if they have freedom to practice their religion they should be grateful to the government and pay their taxes willingly. People only have authority over them if God allows it.
  • The Apostle Paul told Christians….’That’s why you pay taxes - so that an orderly way of life can be maintained. Fulfill your obligations as a citizen. Pay your taxes, pay your bills, respect your leaders’. (Romans 13:6-7)
  • Some Christians say they would find it hard to pay taxes to a government that was opposing God’s ways - for example, when the Nazis ruled Germany.
