Centripetal force
Net constant force which causes an object to move in a circular path. The force is: always directed to the centre and perpendicular to the velocity
Centripetal equations
F=mv²/r a=v²/r
In circular motion the linear velocity changes how can this be?
Velocity is a vector quautity and the maguitude remains the same, however the direction changes. The centripetal acceleration changes thedirection.
why does the speed of an object in circular motion Not change?
The net force is directed perpendicular to the direction of motion (the velocity); This means that there is no work done by -this force and hence no change in speed.
W=fxcos○ and ○=90 so cos○ always equals 0 so work done =0
