Circulatory System Flashcards
Structure/Function of the Circulatory System?
Systemic: Moves Blood Between the Heart and the Rest of the Body; High Pressure Circuit
Pulmonary: Moves Blood Between the Heart and the Lungs; Low Pressure Circuit
Define Veins
Carries Blood Toward the Heart; Carry Deoxygenated Blood
Define Artery
Carries Blood Away from the Heart; Blood is Oxygenated
Define Pulse
Rhythmatic Beating that Occurs in the Arteries
Ex. Heart Pulse, Blood Pressure
Why are Capillaries Important?
- Oxygen and Nutrients pass to the Cells
- Connected to Veins, so Wastes from the Cells can be Transferred to the Blood
Systemic Circulation.
- High Blood Circuit
- Pressure is Greater
- Blood Takes From the Heart and Back to the Heart
- Delivers Oxygen/Nutrients to Body Cells
- Picks Up Waste From the Body Cells
Define Blood Pressure
Force that Blood Apply on the Inner Walls of Blood Vessels
Difference Between Systolic and Diastolic.
Systolic: Ventricles Contract, BP is Greatest Point in Artery
Diastolic: Ventricles Relaxes, BP is Lowest Point in Artery
