Q

Is it unacceptable for countries to ban circumcision?

A

✅- does it while young = less painful, feel part of the community, easy to leave the religion- nothing stopping him, special relationship formed with God when enters the covenant, later on can result in happy, loving relationships (plus God orders it and states that any boy who hasn’t done this has gone against his orders)

❌-baby doesn’t get a choice/ no consent!= arguments in later life!, it is an irreversible process, risky as not medically trained

Q

Explain the historical reasons why Jews practise circumcision…

A

1- God commanded Jews to do this in Genisis/or/Torah (In order for boys to have a special relationship with him, I he said that if he didn’t do this there would be no special relationship)

2- To enter the covenant (inheriting land, family and close relationship with God)

3- It is a physical symbol to God

4- To be part of the Jewish community (memorable right of passage and a nice event!)
