What were Jim Crow Laws?
State and local laws enforcing racial segregation in the Southern United States
Jim Crow Laws created a system of racial discrimination and disenfranchisement for African Americans.
What does disenfranchisement mean?
The removal of the right to vote from individuals or groups
Disenfranchisement often targeted African Americans through various laws and practices.
Define De Facto Segregation.
Segregation that occurs in practice but not enforced by law

An article in a contract that limits the actions of a person

Lawful segregation

The practice of preventing people of color from obtaining upper-class housing
