A

Dred Scott was a slave in MO, moved to Wisconson and back and then the owner dies. Dred Scott argues that he once lived in a free state(Wisconson) so he is now free. This case goes to the supreme court and people look forward to the ruling.

A

First of all, the case is dismissed because only citizens have the right to go to trial.
1. Reinforced the legal status of slaves as property
2.Said that per the Const, Congress did not have the authority to make laws in territories and all territory laws, such as the MO compromise, were struck down

A

John Brown and followers went to Harpers Ferry, VA and they planned to raid a federal arsenal. He hoped that a slave uprising would occur and it didnt. Troops came under the command of Robert E Lee and killed 10 raiders and captured brown.
