A
- child experiments creatively and freely with language use
- no focus on accuracy, raise enjoyment of writing

A
- Teach child the conventions of writing to increase progress
- rules, guidelines, functions etc

Kress’ reading path
A
- the way in which the text can determine the order we read it in
- in a linear text, the reader makes sense of the words through their arrangement
- non linear text means the reading paths are more open to interpretation
