Glacier
A large moving mass of ice formed from the accumulation of snow on mountains or the poles
Glacial period
A period of time where the earths surface is covered in ice
Interglacial period
A period of time where ice on the earths surface melts
Greenhouse effect
When heat from the sun is trapped on earth by greenhouses gases (e.g, carbond dioxide)
Why was it hotter during the Cretaceous period?
Carbon dioxide levels where higher due to higher volcanic activity. As a result the the earth warmed up as its heat from the sun was trapped on earth.
Why is climate action needed
Changes to the climate are already underway even though less than half of the fossil fuels available has been used
