• Be mindful that this may be a patient’s first experience with a medical professional so it may be daunting for them
• Be aware that people have different circumstances
• Not enough to be book smart, have to be someone that the patient is willing to open up to
• Be aware that the patients are not cases, they are people with their own hopes, fears, dreams and life experiences.
