  • Usually wool (warmer than chiton)
  • Worn by women
  • During Panathenaia, kore would weave a giant one for the statue of Athene.

Decribe a chiton. (5 things)

A
  • Usually made of linen
  • Not as warm as a peplos
  • Large, rectangular piece of fabric sewn up at side and shoulders. Held in place by a belt.
  • Male chiton shorter than female.
  • Women’s longer because she had to be modest and cover up if she wanted to leave the house.
