Q

List and describe the domains of FVIIa

A
  1. Gla domain: phospholipid binding
Defines vitamin K dependent proteins (FII, FVII, FIX, FX and PC, PS) which contain 9-11 γ–carboxyglutamic acid residues
  2. 2x EGF-like domain: important for protein-protein binding
  3. Serine protease: contains catalytic triad Ser/ His/ Asp which which catalyses proteolysis of target substrate (FIX to FIXa and FX to FXa)
