trigeminal nerve motor innervation

3 jaw closing - masseter, temporalis and medial pterygoid
1 jaw opening - lateral pterygoid

tensor veli palatini
tensor tympani

2

facial nerve course

pontomedullary junction - internal acoustic meatus - facial canal of the petrious temporal bone - stylomstoid foramen - pass into parotid gland and ten splits into 5 brnaches to supply muscles of facial expresion

3

what supplies the anterior 2/3 tongue

corda tymphani (branch of facial) - special sensory

4

appart from tongue what else does facial supply

para to submandib and sublingual saliv glands
right stapedius

5

muscles of facial expression

orbicularis occuli, orbicularis oris, elevators of lips, frontalis, buccal fat pad

6

where do ix axons mainly pass to

tongue and palate

7

what does ix innervate

special sensory - valate papillae (post 1/3)
para - parotid saliv gland
visceral - carotid sinus baroreceptors and carotid body chemorecpetors
general sensory - post 1/3, nasopharynx, laryngopharynx, oropharynx, palatine tonsil, eustachian tube, middle ear cavity
form the gag reflex

8

vagus nerve route from neck down

carotid sheath
right - lateral aspect of trachea, left - lateral aspect of arotic arch
bth pass to post lung root and onto oesophagus
throigh diaphragm
onto surface of stomach
last para axons to splenic flexure of colon

9

lesion on uvula - towards or away

away from lesion - x

10

tongue - away or towards

towards - xii

11

where does the spinal accessory cross

posterior triangle of neck (named nerves of cervical plexus also pass deep to midpoint of the post border of SCM but they dont pass deep to the trapezius)

12

what passes through the superior orpital fissure

occulomotor, v1, iv, vi

13

what passes through the cribriform plate of teh ethmoid bone

14

what passes through the optic canal

optic nerve

15

what passes through the foramen rotundum
