Raise feet, EMS, open airways, NPO, Control breathing. If they go into cardiac arrest preform CPR.
Seizure Care Measures
Stay with the person, lay them down and turn them to the side, place something soft under their head.
Open Bed

Closed Bed
Not in Use, for residents who walk around most of the day.
Occupied Bed
This bed is made with the person still laying in it.
Surgical Bed
Adjustable and the top linings are folded. Also called a recovery bed.
Fowler’s Position
HOB raised 45”
Semi Fowler’s Position
HOB raised 30”
High Fowler’s Position
HOB raised 60-90”
Supine Position
Back lying with good alignment.
Prone Position
Lying on stomach.
Lateral Position
Side lying, Pillows under head, arm, back and leg.
Parkinson’s Disease
Affects movement and motor muscles, effects people over 60, there is no cure.
Stroke
Poor blood flow to the brain causing cell death. Face paralysis and trouble speaking are S/S
Type 1 Diabetes
Genetic, Body makes no Insulin, effects children and young adults.
Type 2 Diabetes
Not enough insulin/ Insulin resistance, causes high blood pressure and is preventable.
Emphysema
Alveoli are damaged, causes barrel chest due to trapped air.
Admission Record
Contains all personal and identifying information, competed on admission.
Progress Notes
Care given and the person’s response and progress.
Flow / Graphic Sheet
Frequent Care Measures like V/S, I&O, WT, Elimination, and ADL
Kardex
Summarizes medical records with patients medicine, treatments, Ox, Care plan, equipment, and special needs.
