Left: L Ventricle –> Ascending Aorta —> Aortic Arch —> L Common Carotid —> L Internal Carotid
Right: L Ventricle –> Ascending Aorta —> Brachiocephalic A—> R Common Carotid —> R Internal Carotid
What is the order of blood flow to posterior circulation?
Left: L Ventricle —> Ascending Aorta —> Aortic Arch —> L Subclavian A. —> L Vertebral A
Right: L Ventricle —> Ascending Aorta —> Brachiocephalic A. —> R Subclavian —> R Vertebral A
What components make up the anterior circulation blood supply?
Anterior Cerebral A., Middle Cerebral A., Anterior Choroidal A., Anterior Communicating A., Posterior Communicating A.
Where is your anterior cerebral a. located?
Runs along the longitudinal fissure of the brain
What does your anterior cerebral a. supply?
Supplies your cingulate cortex, corpus callosum, and middle aspect of the frontal and parietal lobe
What are the two major branches for the anterior cerebral a.
Pericallosum A. and Callosomarginal A.
What does the medial cerebral artery supply?
2/3 of the brain: lateral aspect of the frontal and parietal lobe, insular cortex, medial and lateral temporal lobe, and deep subcortical structures (basal ganglia, internal capsule, and limbic structures
The stem located in the middle cerebral artery contains?
Stem (which contains lenticulostriate arteries), and superior and inferior divison branches
What does your anterior choroidal artery supply?
Choroid Plexus, Optic Tract, Deep Structures of Telecephalon (posterior limb of internal capsule, portions of thalamus and basal ganglia)
Where does the anterior choroidal artery arise from?
Off of the ICA where the MCA meets
What is the Circle of Willis?
Its a connection between ICA and basilar artery and gives blood flow to let and right hemisphere and anterior and posterior circulation
What are the components of the Circle of Willis?
Anterior Cerebral A., Posterior Cerebral A., Anterior Communicating A., Posterior Communicating A.
What is the function of the Anterior Communicating Artery
Connects both ACAs
What is the function of the Posterior Communicating Artery and what does it supply?
Connects PCA and MCA and supplies infundulum, pituitary, hypothalamus, and thalamus
What are the components of the Posterior Circulation?
Posterior Cerebral A, AICA, PICA, Anterior Spinal Artery, Basilar A, Vertebral A., Labrinyth A., Superior Cerebellar A.
