- structured and focuses on problems

4 positives of CBT
- Jarrett et al. (1999)- over 10 weeks it was more effective than drug therapy and the placebo
- helps us to develop strategies of coping with our problems yourself- free will
- blaming them empowers them to change their way of thinking- free will
- alternative for drug therapy
sadder but wiser effect
individuals with depression may be sadder but are more accuate at predicting outcomes
- should cbt be used to change these thought patterns
