- a blockade made between east(russia) and west(us, britain, and france) berlin in order to keep communism in East Berlin

- political tactic of accusing somebody of something without proof but uses bullying/fear
- hearings were held over the use of this tactic
- backfired since people slowly saw it wasn’t true
