Q

Vapour pressure

A

Add solute to solution
= less solution on surface
=less molecules escape
=decrease vapour pressure

Boiling Point

A

lower vapour pressure = higher boiling point

add salt to water

Q

IV

A

Must be Isotonic
hypo = BAD, causes convulsion, oedema, renal failure
Hyper = cells shink, can cuase dehydration, also used for therapeutic effect
(irritate blood vessels, thus slow circulation

Q

IM

A

Slightly hypertonic

-this can draw water to muscles and allows better absorption

Q

What is the difference between isomoticity and isotonic?

A
Iso-osmoiticty = there is an equal concentration of dissolved particles, But because biological membranes are NOT perfect molecules such as propylene glycol WILL pass through thus there IS net movement and NOT isotonic
Isotonic = there is NO net movement of particles
