  • 150,000 richer peasants forced to migrate north
  • some tried to kill livestock and burn crops to avoid being labelled as ‘kulaks’

A
  • get peasants to live and work in Kolkhoz collectively
  • aim was 25% of grain farming areas to be collectivised
  • by march 1930 58% of peasant households were collectivised
  • this was enforced by propaganda, Cheka, army and fear of what happened to kulaks
