What are the three types of documentation in FF?

A
  1. Transportation Documentation; Bill of Lading (ocean, land), air waybill (air-freight)
  2. Commercial Documentation; commercial invoices, packing list, certificate of origin, etc. For customs clearance, export/import permits.
  3. Financial Documentation; Letter of credit advice and information, bill of exchange, draft, promissory note.

Importance and purpose of commercial invoices.

A

It is a contractual document between buyer and seller.
Accounting document against which the buyer pays the seller.
Supports the custom declaration.
Usually prepared by the exporter/seller, with assistance from freight forwarder.

A

Detailed itemized list of of articles in each shipping package.
Used by cosigner for unloading, identification, and inventory management.
Helps with p/u and delivery
In case of customs inspection
Used to confirm to the regulations of the country of import.

A

Declaration by the exporter that the goods in the export shipment are wholly obtained, produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country.

Types of export permits?

A

General Export Permit, allows to export certain goods without submitting export permit application. Generally for less-sensitive goods.

Individual Export Permit, when GEP can not be used. Administered by Global Affaires Canada, Export controls on-line (EXCOL) process used.

Clean Report of Findings, used when inspection of goods are done prior to crating and shipping.Certified by a recognized licensed authority attesting to quality.
A.T.A. Carnet, international passport for goods temporarily in a country (trade show), relief from duties and taxes. Issued by Canadian chamber of Commerce.
CITES Permit, for endangered species.
Agricultural and Health certificate, animal vaccinations
Electronic Tracking notes, for clearance by several developing countries

Mexico, maybe in Spanish, ISPM 15-compliant.
Valued is FOB value although in US that is all imports Mexico, only NAFTA, eligible items.
