A
- Starts as a macular lesion, that develops into vesicles
- most spots are on the face and on the trunk (starts on the trunk)
- Rash peaks around 48 hours
- Treatment is supportive for most
- Immunocompromised patients may consider acyclovir in the first 48 hours +/- Varicella zoster immunoglobulin (at the end of pregnancy)

- viral inflammatory infection of the parotid gland.
- as about vaccination history
Treatment = conservative
complications: Mumps orchitis in little boy - look for testicular swelling and test. as causes infertility or ovarian inflammation
also pancreatitis
