Non-pharmacological

A

Rest
Drink plenty of fluid
Avoid respiratory irritants
Humidify the air
Throat lozenges or ice to relieve sore throat and cough.

Paracetamol

A

Immediate release: 0.5-1g 4-6 hours a day, no more than 8 tablets a day
Safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding

Polaramine/dexchlorpheniramine

A

Adult 1 tablet (2mg) 4 times daily
6-12 Child half a tablet 4 times daily
2-6 child 1.25-2ml 3-4 times daily
Pregnancy - safe
Breastfeeding - Appears safe

Sudafed PE / Phenylephrine

A

Adult - 1 tablet every 4 hours
6> 2.5-5mg every 4 ours
Pregnancy - Avoid, especially in first trimester
Breastfeeding - safe but may reduce blood supply

Demazin/Phenylephrine

A

Adult 1 spray into each nose every 4 hours
Do not use for more than 5 days
