- Second degree AV block - high resting vagal tone slows impulses. Should dissipate with exercise/excitement. Missing QRSs
- Sinus block - also vagal. Regularly irregular loss of P waves + QRS complexes.

Blood test for cryptorchidism
> 3 yrs Oestrogen sulphate
<3yrs or donkeys - HCG stimulation test.
When to refer a colic
- severe pain
- no/partial response to analgesia
- large vol NG reflux
- decreased or absent gut sounds
- rectal findings which indicate a strangulation
Rain scald/mud fever is caused by
Dermatophilus congolesi - thrives in wet, muddy conditions.
Bacterial folliculitis is caused by

pruritus - self trauma - broken hairs & thickening of skin
Mainly control - avoid/repel midges.
Corticosteroids can be helpful in acute stages
Autumn parasite
Harvest mites - trombicula autumalis
Severely pruritic papule on face & legs.
Tx: soften scabs & insecticidal wash.
Most commonly seen in horses with feathered legs
Chorioptic mange - causes alopecia, crusting, thickening of the skin. Tx ivermectin or fipronil spray.

Topical enilconazole and malaseb shampoo
Photosensitivity is caused by
Ingestion of plants e.g. St John’s Wort or liver damage
Painful lesions in non-pigmented skin, can progress to sloughing (cf. sunburn which is just on non-pigmented)
