Why do you want to be a physician over careers in other healthcare fields? (Mid-levels, nurses, pharmacists, etc.)

A

FIRST: Briefly explain what the role of a doctor entails and express your interest in doing that.

THEN: Mention that you realize the role of a nurse is instrumental in the health care field, and how you had the pleasure of shadowing a Neurosurgery Clinic RN and learned a lot about patient care through observing her.

FINISH WITH: However, I want the highest level of training and the highest level of responsibility when serving my patients. I want to be well-equipped enough to make the call on someone’s life, at the end of the day.

Why should our committee pick you out of all the other people sitting in the waiting room?

A

I am an absolute workhorse who WILL NOT stop until I reach my goals. I understand that the road is a challenging one, but I am a person who welcome challenges as opportunities for growth. I am very passionate about the medical field and I have been inspired by the patients I have met along my pre-med journey. My experiences have molded me into someone who will stop at nothing to advocate for those in need. For example…
