A
  1. After receiving a distress alert that its not acknowledged by any station within 5 minutes
  2. When the vessel in distress is not able to transmit the alert itself
  3. When the master of the ship not in distress, or the MRCC, considers further help is required

A

LIST
1. Log Distress alert (time, identity, channel/frequency & position)
2. Inform Call Master
3. Set Watch on Ch 16, 2182 KHz - MF
4. Transcribe (write down) the message and all messages going forward

4. W - Working on Ch 16/ 2812KHz / 8291KHz if assistance is required, or Ch 06 / 2048KHz if assistance is not required

  1. Let the alert finish, then stop it from repeating.
  2. Cancel the Alert by VOICE including your MMSI number.
  3. Inform an MRCC by any means.

What tests do you need for a DSC? Daily & weekly

A

Daily - Internal self-test or a VHF DSC Test Call
Weekly - Live call to an MRCC or shore station
