Comp 3rd Flashcards
(19 cards)
What is Hue?
The color itself, defined by its position on the color wheel (e.g., red, blue, green).
What is Saturation?
The intensity or purity of a color. A fully saturated color is vivid, while a desaturated color is muted or washed out.
What is Brightness?
The lightness or darkness of a color. Increasing brightness makes a color lighter, while decreasing it makes the color darker.
What is Opacity?
The transparency level of a color or object. 100% opacity is fully opaque, while 0% opacity is fully transparent.
What does CMYK stand for?
A color model used in printing (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black).
What does RGB stand for?
A color model used for digital screens (Red, Green, Blue).
What is Pantone?
A standardized color matching system used for consistent color reproduction across different media.
What is a Gradient?
A smooth transition between two or more colors. Can be applied as linear (in one direction).
What is Stroke Weight?
A thicker stroke can emphasize or separate elements, while a thinner stroke can be used for delicate lines and finer details.
What is the difference between Dashed and Solid Lines?
Dashed lines can add dynamism and a sense of motion, while solid lines provide clarity and boundary.
What are Arrowheads used for?
These can be used in infographic-style designs or to direct attention to key elements.
What are Geometric Shapes?
Simple, regular shapes like squares, rectangles, circles, and polygons. They form the basic building blocks of designs.
What are Organic Shapes?
Irregular shapes, often inspired by nature. These shapes can be more fluid and freeform.
What is a Compound Shape?
A shape created by combining two or more individual shapes.
What is a Vector?
A type of graphic that uses paths or points rather than pixels, allowing it to be resized without losing quality. Shapes in InDesign are typically vector-based.
What is Line Weight?
The thickness of a line, which can vary depending on the visual impact desired (thin for subtle, thick for emphasis).
What is Stroke?
The outline or border around a shape, which can be customized in terms of color, weight, style, and pattern.
What is a Dashed Line?
A line that is made up of short segments or dashes. Often used for decorative purposes or indicating separation.
What is a Path?
The continuous line or curve that defines the boundaries of a shape or object. It is made up of anchor points and segments.
