Comparing The Approaches Flashcards
(7 cards)
What does ANUS stand for
Applications in the real world
Nature or nurture
Unique to the approach
Scientific or non-scientific
Psychodynamic ANUS
A- psychoanalysis (therapy) they did this by helping access reach their unconscious mind so emotional NS can be dealt with. One way this was done was in TAT tests, where the client was shown a photo and then asked to make a story regarding this photo
N- BOTH = interactionist. Nature = innate ID you are born with it and biological programmed. Nurture = psychosexual stages is due to child hood experiences, such as potty training.
U- the unconscious mind being the centre of this approach however it’s not mentioned in any other approach.
S- non sceintific. This is because the unconscious mind cant be accessed therefore there’s no way to scientifically observe this. It cant be probed wrong = unfaulseafiable
Behaviourist ANUS
A- token economy systems, used in schools as a reward system
Humanistic ANUS
A- applications of client- entered therapy
N- both nature and nurture (interactionist) nature = we dont have an instinct to self actualise and nurture our conditions of woth
U- focus on the positive human experiences, dreams, aspirations and happiness
S- less scientific because it focus on individual subjective experiences, such as how you are feeling
Cognitive anus
A- cognitive interviews to improve EWT and cbt
N- interactionist = nature = brain designed to think and nurture = schemas are developed through experiences
U- computer analogy, brain works like a computer input, processing, output
S- scientific = cognitve neuroscience and brain scanning- memory used lab conditions
SLT anus
A- modelling. Parents and teachers use modelling for desired behaviours
N- nurture - modelling is our environment and behaviours are learnt
U- blended approach and combines the behaviourist ideas with cognitive ideas
S- scientific - controlled research
Biological ANUS
A- Drug therapy, SSRIs
N- nature, all that is psychological is first biological
U- purple focuses on biology
S- scientific - brain scanning techniques, lab techniques such as double blind placebo trails
