What are the four functions of a computer?
Input, Processing, Storage, Output.
What is an IPO chart?
A diagram that outlines the Input, Processing, and Output of a system.
What is multiprocessing?
The ability of a computer to process multiple tasks simultaneously using multiple CPUs.
What is multitasking?
Running multiple applications at the same time on a single CPU.
What is the CPU and its components?
The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is the brain of the computer. It includes the ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) and CU (Control Unit).
Name the main types of computers.
Supercomputers, Mainframe Computers, Minicomputers, Microcomputers (Desktops, Laptops), and Mobile Devices (smartphones, tablets).
What is the difference between data and information?
Data is raw, unprocessed facts. Information is data that has been processed and is meaningful.
What is Information Technology (IT)?
IT is the use of computers and telecommunications to store, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data.
What are common file extensions and what do they mean?
A: .
docx (Word), .xlsx (Excel), .jpg (image), .mp3 (audio), .exe (executable file).
What is cloud storage?
Cloud storage is storing data online using internet services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Files can be accessed from anywhere.
What is local storage?
Local storage means saving files directly to physical storage devices like hard drives, USB flash drives, or SSDs on your own computer.
Give one advantage and one disadvantage of cloud storage.
Advantage: Accessible from anywhere with internet.
Disadvantage: Requires internet access and may pose privacy risks.
