Urbanisation
Urbanisation is growth of the population in urban areas, such as towns and cities.
Suburbanisation
The growth of the population of suburb areas surrounding urban areas due to push and pull factors. Pull= open spaces and clean environment push =increased traffic
Counter urbanisation
The movement of people from urban areas to rural areas. This is usually wealthy people
Urban resurgence
Process of improving areas of an urban areas, usually the centre to improve the social and economic status of the city. (Attract tourists and make money) . Birmingham is the city that has experienced the most central regeneration in Europe
Urbanisation allows for improvements of:
Global life expectancy.
Poverty.
Communication.
Transportation opportunities.
Deindustrialisation
The removal / change of industry within a region
Urban expansion
The increase in the size of geographical footprint of a city
