Q

Outline steps to crystillsation practical

A
  1. Add 40cm3 of sulphuric acid to a beaker
  2. Warm this beaker using a bunsen burner (to speed up reaction)
  3. After warming the acid up, add in copper oxide and stir until it is in excess (to ensure it has all reacted)
  4. Using a filter funnel and paper, filter the solution to get rid of the excess copper oxide into a conical flask
  5. Pour the solution into an evaporating dish
  6. Fill up a beaker with around 150ml of water
  7. Place the evaporating dish on top of the beaker and heat up the beaker using a bunsen burner UNTIL COPPER SULPHATE HAS HALVED
  8. Leave the dish to crystallise
