Concepts Science 01 Flashcards
(24 cards)
An observation that was taken place in an artificial and unnatural setting.
Indirect observation
An observation taken place in the natural setting
Direct observation
How correct a measurement approximates the value of the theoretical measurement
Accuracy
What changes as a result of the manipulation in experiments
Dependent variable
A measuring system that uses meter, liter, and grams to measure different things
Metric system
Something that is manipulated in some way during the scientific reasearch
Independent variable
A set of instructions for testing if your hypothesis is correct or incorrect
Scientific method
A group that receives the experimental treatment
Experimental group
A metric system of units of measurements for scientists
SI system
Series of letters attached to the beginning of a word, word base, or a suffix to produce a word with a new meaning
Prefixes
An explanation for observations of the natural world using the scientific method
Scientific theory
The act of observing something in order to gain info
Observation
Anything that can or can not be changed
Variable
A scientific theory constructed by little evidence of a science experiment
Hypothesis
Those who do not get the experimental treatment
Control group
Laws based off of observations or experiments that describe or predict a range of natural phenomena
Scientific law
Being in favor of something over the other
Bias
A conclusion to research on the basis of evidence and reasoning
Inference
The statement that has been proven or disproven over experiments, measurements, or observations, the closing
Conclusion
Facts that come from an observation or experiment
Data
A way of doing something officially
Procedure
The studies of structure and behavior of the behavior of the physical natural world through observations and experiments
Science
General science that covers the physical and life sciences
Integrated science
Being factually sound
Validity
