Psoritic Arthritis, CVD
List some risk factors leading to the development of psoriasis
- FHx
- CS rebound phenomenon
- skin trauma, stress
- smoking
- alcohol
- strep infection (GAS)
Which type of psoriasis is this? State some of the characteristic feaures. What causes this to develop?

Guttate psoriasis
- raindrop lesions over the trunk.
- Preceded by Strep inection (sore throat a week prior to this)

Plaque psoriasis
Well demarcated erythematous lesion with silver/white scales.

Plaque psoriasis
usally found on extensor surfaces = knee, elbow, scalp, sacrum

Flexural psoriasis
in body folds (axilla, groin, peri-anal)

- dysregulation of thermoregulation and electrolyte balance.
- Intereferes with barrier function
- REQUIRES HOSPITALISATION

Cessation of Systemic CSs (CS rebound phenomenon)
List three nail signs of Psoriasis
- Pitting
- Oncholysis
- Subungual Keratosis
What is Auspitz sign?
A sign of psoriasis- pinpopint bleeding on removal of a scale

What is Koebrier’s phenomenon?
A sign of psoriasis- the developments of lesions at sites of trauma/scars

State three joint complications of psoriasis
- oligoarthritis
- dactylitis
- spondylitis
Which investigations might you conduct on someone with guttate psoriasis?
Throat swab, anti-streptolysin-O titre
Which investigation might you conduct on someone with flexural psoriasis and why?
Skin swab to rule out candidial infection
