Condition Special Tests Flashcards
(43 cards)
ACL injury
Anterior drawer (knee flexed then pull lower leg)
Lachmans test (stabilize distal femur other hand posterior proximal tibia and pull up on tibia)
PCL injury
Posterior drawer test (knee flexed push on proximal tibia)
Gravity drawer(let flexed knee fall back towards table)
MCL injury
Valgus stress test (hold ankle and push knee medially)
LCL injury
Varus stress test (hold ankle push knee laterally)
Patellar femoral syndrome
Clark’s sign (press down on distal femur and get client to flex knee)
Itb friction syndrome
Obers test(extend leg and let it fall off the back of table)
Noble compression test(apply preasure on itb above lateral epicondyle of femur and extend knee)
Meniscus damage
Apleys compression test (client prone flex knee and push down on foot)
Collateral knee ligament damage
Apleys distraction(prone place knee on thigh and pull ankle)
Lateral ankle sprain
Ankle drawer test(place hand on distal tibia and pull up on heel with other hand) talar tilt test(client side lying move clients foot into inversion)
Syndesmosis ankle sprain (high ankle sprain)
Squeeze test(starting for mid calf and work distal squeeze tibia and fibula together)
Mortons neuroma
Mortons test (squeeze tarsal bones together)
Tarsal tunnel
Dorsiflexion eversion test(exactly what the name is)
Deep vein thrombosis
Homans sign (passively dorsiflex to lengthen calf muscle)
Periostitis (shin splints)
Tibialis posterior compression test (apply preassure along the sides of the tibia)
Achilles tendon disorder/rupture
Thompson test(pinch gastroc moving distaly) Achilles pinch test (pinch calcaneal tendon)
Plantar fasciatis
Windlass test(dorsiflex big toe)
TOS anterior scalene
Allen test(find radial pulse flex elbow with horizontal extension client looks to opposite side) Adsons maneuver (find radial pulse extend arm and turn head toward affected side)
TOS costoclavicular
Military brace test(find radial pulse clients shoulder down and back)
TOS pec minor
Wright hyper abduction test(find radial pulse bring arm straight up)
Herniated nucleus pulposus
Spurlings test(apply preasure to top of head repeat with slight extension and extension rotation do not do if vertebral artery test is positive) cervical distraction, slump test (hands behind back slump over bring leg up then bring chin up)
Facet syndrome
Spurlings test cervical distraction don’t do tests while in active state
Whiplash associated disorder
Vertebral artery test(extend and rotate hold for 30 seconds) spurling test, adsons test, 3 knuckle tmj, Wright hyper abduction
Torticollis acute acquired
Cervical distraction, vertebral artery, spurlings
Congenital torticollis
Cervical distraction, vertebral artery, spurlings
