conductors and insulators Flashcards
(35 cards)
what are insulators ?
substances that do not conduct electricity or electricity current to flow through easily
what are conductors?
substances which easily allows an electric current to flow through them easily
examples of insulators?
rubber,glass,oil,diamond,dry wood,plastic,air.
examples of conductors?
silver,gold,copper,aluminium,mercury,steel,iron,sea water,graphite
what is a wallerfield circuit?
a complete pathway that things can go around

what is the difference between a cell and a battery?
a cell is made up of a negative and a postive terminal but a battery is made up of two or more cells.
what is a circuit?
a circuit is a complete pathway which electric current can flow. and has to be made of a conductor such as a metal wire.
what is electric current?
electric current is the rate of flow of electric charge or electric particles.
what is the SI unit for current?
ampere [A]
what are smaller SI units?
milliamperes [mA] or microamperes [upside down h and capital A
complete pathway in which electric particles can move
electric circuit
are electrons negatively or positively charged?
negatively
