What is the duty of confidentiality ?
A
Doctors should protect the confidentiality of patients at all costs
Serious professional fault if it is not uplifted and can have bad effects on both the doctor and possibly the patient

When can you break confidentiality ?
A
Implied consent has been given by the patient
Information required by a court/judge
In the public interest and to protect the patient and others - acts as non maleficence towards another patient
Example of the last would be if a patient doesn’t tell their partner that they have HIV and they are having unprotected sex
