A 16-year-old girl comes to your GP surgery worried that she has not yet started her periods. She is quite short, has a webbed neck, low set ears and widely spaced nipples. What would your likely diagnosis?
Turner’s syndrome is associated aortic coarctation (failure to close of ductus arteriosus in first few weeks of life)
What is the murmur found in coarctation of aorta?
Ejection systolic murmur heard loudest over aortic valve.
What is turners syndrome and who does it effect?
Turner’s syndrome is a chromosomal disorder affecting females. Associated with short stature, widely spaced nipples and webbed neck.
What will the blood pressure readings reveal in coarctation of aorta?
Four limb pressure will reveal: upper extremities>lower extremities
What is the Mx for critical coarctation of aorta?
-Critical coarctation: five prostaglandin E to keep ductus arteriosus open, then surgical repair of coarctation once medically stable.
