Connective Tissue Flashcards
(44 cards)
Functions of ct (8 of them)
- metabolic connections
- physical connections
- protection
- insulation
- energy storage
- involved in healing process
- Frame (skeleton)
- involved in immune response to invaders
A transient cell…..
moves around
A fixed cell…..
Does not move around
Where are fibres located?
outside the cell
What are the 3 types of fibres?
- collagenous
- reticular
- elastic
What does collagen look like?
Pink, slightly purple, strong, thick, wave like
What does reticular look like?
thin and delicate. Brown/black because of sliver stain
What does elastic fibres looks like?
branched and wavy can almost look like it glows
What are the 2 types of cells?
- fixed
2. transient
What are 2 classifications of transient cells?
- mast cell
2. leukocyte (WBC)
What does a mast cell look like?
grainy
what are the 5 classifications of fixed cells?
- reticular cells
- adipose cells
- fibroblasts
- chondroblasts in cartilage
- osteoblasts in bones
What is an adipose cell?
fat cell
What is a fibroblast
active fixed cell
What is a fibrocyte?
a fibroblast after its done its work
What is a chondroblast?
plays important role in the formation of cartilage
Where is chondroblasts found?
cartilage
Where are osteoblasts found?
in bone
What are the 3 types of CT?
- loose ct
- dense ct
- specialized ct
What are the 3 types of loose ct?
- areolar
- adipose
- reticular
What is the dead give away to know its reticular?
it will always be blackish/ brownish
where is areolar found?
in all muscousy membranes
Where is adipose found?
around all major internal organs
Where can you find reticular?
lymph nodes
