is the owners formal agreement to the medical or surgical course of action proposed which should ideally also include acknowledgement of an estimate of associated costs

how can consent be given/expressed?

A

implied, verbal and written - all valid by law
written consent is preferred as a form of evidence though a signature doesn’t = valid consent it just indicates that a interaction took place between the professional and owner.

A

Competence - can they retain the information? believe it?
sufficient age and maturity
capacity -mental capacity to make own decisions.
