How many sponson do we have, what are they and what do they do?
6 sponsons in total, 5,11,13 are primarily for fuel onload or RAS and 11 can be used for lube oil onload aswell. 21 and 15 are for FAS(fueling at sea) and 12 is for offloading fuel on to a barge or other boat.
What are the pipe colors and what do they mean?
Blue- fresh water Green- salt water Purple- jp-5 unpurified Pink- jp-5 service Red- stripping Yellow- delivery
What are the alarms and what color are they?
Red- critical alarm(flooding,fire,fuel spill)
Yellow-non critical (low flow,pressurized)
Orange-supervisory/self diagnostic pwrloss
Brown- out of service
Gray-communication failure,i/o failure
Green- normal conditions
Blue-normal off condition
Whats the definition of specific gravity
Is the ratio of the weight of a given volume of fuel at the same temperature it is to the weight of equal volume of distilled water normally gravity of petroleum products is converted to degrees according to API scale all gravity determinations are correlated with specific temperature of 60F by use of ASTM standard D1250-80
Whats a line sample
Is a sample taken from the discharge while the machine is operating and is taken to QA for analysis
What is a composite sample
A single tank composite sample is a blend of samples taken from the upper, middle and lower levels of a tanks contents.
What is a all levels sample
Sample is one obtained by submerging a closed sampler to a point as possible to the drawoff levelthen opening the sampler and raising it at such a rate that it is nearly but not quite full.
What is a Representative sample
Basically just taking a barrel from the line up and testing it and having it determing weather the rest of the barells are good
What is a duplicate correlation sample?
When you take two samples and test one in house and test one at a laboratory and test the accuracy along with the samples themselves.
